Does my liner need a bottom tee cap?
I have my hot water heater venting into a masonry chimney with a new stainless steel liner properly sized for the appliance-the liner was just installed. Does the liner need a bottom tee cap at the bottom of the tee connector or is it ok without it? If it is properly sized my thinking is that it will draft properly and the bottom tee cap is a non- issue. There was not enough clearance at the bottom of the thimble in the wall to fit the cap on the tee, the tee had to be shortened at the bottom so the snout could be connected.
no it does not,as long as it draws properly its ok,the reason for this "drip t "was to route rain h20 out a 1/2"pipe and keep it from damaging the Masonry chim or where ever it was inst,u would have to have a massive down pour for an extended period of time to get any amount of h20 out the drip t,also putting a code rain cap will prevent it,,i would not worry about it...
