Minnesota Timberwolves Tickets - Timberwolves Will Shape Draft
The first two players off the board in the NBA draft is a foregone conclusion and unfortunately for people with Minnesota Timberwolves tickets, Derrick Rose and Michael Beasley will not land in Minnesota. But there will be plenty of good players left on the board. What the Wolves decide to do with the third pick will dictate much of how the rest of the top 10 picks shape up.
There are two players that I see headlining the options for the Wolves. O.J. Mayo will sell Minnesota Timberwolves tickets and could develop into a superstar, but the team already has a number of guards on the roster that were lottery picks in the last few years such as Rashad McCants, Randy Foye and Sebastian Telfair. Stanford’s Brook Lopez would fill a hole at center. The Wolves have been playing stud post player Al Jefferson, a true power forward, at center and a move to his more natural position could help his already potent offensive game. Mayo will probably be better than any of the aforementioned Wolves guards and may be able to handle some point guard duties. Foye is also a combo guard and has the best chance to be a regular in the Wolves starting lineup of the current Wolves guards. Teaming Mayo and Foye and having them share the point guard duties could work.
Then again, GM Kevin McHale isn’t known to be the most conventional of decision makers so one has to examine the other top prospects in the draft. Who’s to say McHale hasn’t fallen in Love? With Kevin Love, that is. Love’s stock is really high and teams really like his scoring repertoire in the post, but he plays the same position as Jefferson and needs a lot of touches similarly to Big Al so I don’t see that working out. There is also Arizona guard Jeryd Bayless. Bayless seems to be the most point-oriented combo guard of the bunch and would fill the hole at point guard that has existed in Minnesota since Sam Cassell teamed up with Kevin Garnett and Latrell Spreewell for a run at the title. That seems like ages ago now.
I think the most likely pick is Mayo because, when it comes down to it, teams usually end up selecting the best player available over positional need. Mayo has the chance to be a star in the NBA and is ready to play right now. He’ll also sell Minnesota Timberwolves tickets, which is something an owner always considers.
