Both are excellent tremolo's. In addition to the ZR using ball bearings to pivot on, there is also a device in the spring cavity that gives it counter tension and helps it return to its start point. The ZR is a better built tremolo, however one of the things that you can do with a tremolo is called flutter. The ZR eliminates the flutter effect. So, if you would like the flutter effect, go with the Edge 3. If it doesn't make a difference to you, then the ZR is a little bit nicer.
However, that is only the bridge. The 2 guitars you are referring to are somewhat different beasts. The Ibanez S (Sabre series) is a thin bodied guitar which is comfortable to play (in my opinion). However, the S only has 22 frets. I am a player who prefers 24 frets as I do sometimes use the 24th fret as well as appreciating the fret being there as a marker for harmonics. The Ibanez models move up through the series, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, etc. The S420 is from the 400 series as the RG350 is from the 300 series. There may be some quality differences. Try comparing the RG420, or my preferences are the RG470 and RG570. All the guitars you mentioned and I did are excellent quality. Also check out the RGT42DX.
