Dose anyone know if there is a high demand for athletic trainers is so where?
i am majoring in advanced athletic training but i am thinking about switching over to becoming a nurse.because the demand is a lot higher in the nursing field and the pay isn't bad either. what do you guys think. how closely related is an advanced athletic trainer to a nurse.
Having been an athletic trainer and now in my last year of nursing school, I can say it honestly depends on your goals in life. If you are a passionate sports lover and do not mind lower pay and longer work hours with few vacations than athletic training is for you. You can certainly find an athletic training job just about anywhere but it may not be exactly what you are looking for. If you want to work at the collegiate level you must get your Master's degree in Sports Medicine. I learned all this the hard way and just got burned out of the fast-paced physical therapy clinic and junior high/high school games. Nurses can do everything and much more than an ATC and get paid more with 100% job placement in any setting in any city. Nursing outranks athletic training any day. Nurses start out at about $10,000 more per year and can work all they want and get paid for it. I am thinking about starting a sports medicine nurse company that offers more than ATC's can offer.
